The British pound moved lower vis-à-vis the U.S. dollar today as cable tested bids around the US$ 1.6155 level and was capped around the $ 1.6245 level. Cable reached its lowest level since 13 July. Bank of England Deputy Governor Bean reported it may take years to assess the efficacy of the central bank's â‚¤175 billion asset purchasing program on account of transmission lags. Bean added the impact of the bond purchase program has been moderately encouraging. Cable offers are cited around the US$ 1.6355 level. The euro moved higher vis-à-vis the British pound as the single currency tested offers around the â‚¤0.8820 level and was supported around the â‚¤0.8770 level.
