“General Hospital” fans are going to see a change in July. Maxie will be played by Molly Burnett, but Kirsten Storms isn’t gone for good. The actress will return later this summer.

“Viewers can expect to see her on air the first week of August,” a “GH” representative told Soap Opera Digest. The actress had to leave the ABC soap opera because of trouble with her skin. While Storms takes a break, her character Maxie will still be getting into trouble. Burnett, who “Days of Our Lives” fans know as the former Melanie, will be with the daytime drama for a month.

Storms announced her temporary leave at the end of May. She said she had stress-related breakouts that prevented her from being on “General Hospital.” “It was becoming too difficult for ‘GH’ to cover up,” she tweeted. “And we all know in this biz appearance is important.” Read her full statement below:

The news that Storms needed to take a timeout came just weeks after her divorce announcement. The actress split from her co-star Brandon Barash after three years of marriage in April. “We are splitting due to the cliché irreconcilable differences, but we’re splitting amicably,” Barash told Soap Opera Digest. “We have every intention of remaining a family through this and successfully co-parenting our kid and retaining a friendship in the efforts of raising her in a healthy environment.” The two share a 2-year-old daughter, Harper.

“General Hospital” airs on ABC weekdays at 3 p.m. EDT.
