KEY POINTS

  • Zhongli can be built as a strong damage dealer or a tanky support character
  • His Elemental Skill also shreds the resistance values of nearby enemies
  • The Tenacity of the Millelith set is the best support option for Zhongli

“Genshin Impact's” Zhongli has come a long way since he was first released. The first iteration of his kit was deemed too weak, and he was largely ignored even by those who managed to pull him. Now, after a significant buff and a few new artifact sets, the Lord of Geo is finally living up to his title.

The buffs Zhongli received in Patch 1.3 has made him an excellent all-rounder, whether as a DPS carry or a buff/debuff support. Here are some of his best builds and ideal playstyles for “Genshin Impact” Patch 1.5.

Zhongli’s Playstyles

Zhongli can be played a multitude of ways, but he’s best used as either a burst carry with high Elemental Burst damage or a shield bot with very high hitpoints for his health and his shield.

Players who are looking for a strong shield generator with high damage, great CC and off-field Geo resonance should definitely pull for Zhongli during his banners.

Damage Support Build

The Tenacity of the Millelith artifact set is great for players who want to use Zhongli as a buffer for their main damage carries.

The Millelith set increases the damage of all party members by 20% and shield strength by 30% every time the wearer’s Elemental Skill hits an enemy. This effect stacks three times and can trigger even when the wearer is off-field.

Pillars created from Zhongli’s Elemental Skill will deal damage in an area every two seconds, triggering the artifact’s bonus and stacking the damage buff as long as they hit enemies. Zhongli with a full set of HP artifacts can also provide a very strong shield that can resist all elements.

Burst Support Build

Zhongli’s Elemental Burst is great for wiping out small mobs and petrifying anything that survives the blast. Capitalizing on the damage of this ability makes Zhongli a great damage carry with the right team composition, but it can also make him a damage/support hybrid with four-piece Noblesse Oblige or Archaic Petra sets.

Players can use two of each set to maximize damage if they want to use Zhongli as their primary damage dealer. The Staff of Homa is the best weapon for any of Zhongli’s builds, but for those who don’t have it, the Deathmatch spear works just as well for any situation.
