Shares of Genzyme (Nasdaq: GENZ) have moved up this morning after the biotech drugmaker reported that merger talks with French Sanofi-Aventis (NYSE: SNY) have expanded.

As of 10:04 a.m. (EDT), Genzyme shares have risen 1.69 percent.

Genzyme previously rejected an $18-5-billion takeover bid by Sanofi.
