George Clooney reportedly has his sights set on a new woman, actress Eva Mendes. According to report from the National Enquirer, Clooney, 52, is hoping to date the “Hitch” film star and rumored recent ex-girlfriend of actor Ryan Gosling, despite reports he is dating British lawyer Amal Alamuddin.
“George would give his right arm to date Eva,” an insider told the gossip publication Friday, adding that the “The Monuments Men" actor and producer has had a crush on the brunette beauty for “awhile.”
Despite Clooney’s desire to hook up with Mendes, the veteran actor is reportedly holding back due to his concern that his love interest and Gosling, her boyfriend of two years, have not officially called it quits. “He would never be disrespectful and pursue anyone else’s girlfriend,” the insider said, adding. “But he’s sent the word out that he’d date her in a heartbeat if she becomes officially single and is interested in him.”

So what does Mendes have that Clooney’s rumored current flame, Amal Aladmuddin, doesn’t? According to the rumors, the "Gravity" charmer is enamored with Mendes’ brains and beauty. “He’s run into her a few times over the years and loves her energy. He says he could talk to her about anything since she’s hugely intellectual and he’s turned on by her smarts,” said the source.
Despite Clooney’s rumored attempts to woo Mendes, multiple outlets are currently linking the film star to Alamuddin, a 36-year-old UK-based lawyer. According to a report from People magazine Thursday, Clooney was last spotted holding hands with the law professional while attending a White House screening of his film “The Monuments Men” on Feb. 18. The rumored couple first sparked relationship rumors back in October after photographers spotted the pair leaving a swanky restaurant together in London.
Mendes was last known to be dating her “Place Beyond the Pines” co-star, Ryan Gosling, 33. The couple made headlines earlier this month after Life & Style reported that the duo split last December due to Mendes’ desire to live a “glamorous” lifestyle and Gosling’s conflicting homebody personality. Following the break up rumors, Gosling was spotted spending time at Mendes' home in the Hollywood Hills last week, a sign the duo may still be working on their romance.
