On Sunday Trayvon Martin's parents published a Card of Thanks in The Miami Herald obituary page, while the man accused of killing the 17-year-old boy was released on $150,000 bond from a Florida county jail around midnight.

Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, walked out of jail with another man avoiding eye contact with photographers waiting outside the jail. The unidentified man and Zimmerman walked straight to a BMW parked outside the jail and drove away, reports Fox News.

As of now, Zimmerman's destination has been kept a secret for his safety, and it is possible he has been taken outside the Florida city limits for the time being.

Zimmerman has surrendered his passport and, according to Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester's orders on Friday, he cannot have any guns and must observe a 7 p.m to 6 a.m. curfew, reports MSNBC news.

According to a statement from Seminole County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), the 28-year-old has been fitted with an electronic monitoring device which can give immediate information of the whereabouts of an offender at any given time, reported GMA. The device will be monitored by the SCSO and Seminole County Probation.

On Friday, a judge had ruled that Zimmerman could be released on bond until his trial and said that Zimmerman could not have any contact with Martin's family or consume alcohol.

The judge's ruling came after Zimmerman took the stand during a hearing at the Seminole County Criminal Justice Center where Zimmerman addressed Martin's parents and said I wanted to say that I am sorry for the loss of your son. I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little bit younger than I am. And I did not know whether he was armed or not.

Prosecutors had initially asked for $1 million bail, citing two previous scrapes Zimmerman had with the law, for neither of which he was charged. But Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara cited his father's modest financial holdings and asked the court to keep the bond at $15,000.

In 2005, Zimmerman had to take anger management classes when he reportedly attacked an undercover officer, who was trying to arrest Zimmerman's friend. He has also been accused of attacking his girlfriend.

Zimmerman shot Martin, 17, on Feb. 26 in an altercation inside the gated community where Zimmerman lived. Martin, who was unarmed, succumbed to the bullet injury.

Zimmerman says that there was a fight and that he shot Martin in self-defense.

Zimmerman was not charged for over six weeks, which sparked national protests stating that it was racism because Martin was black, while Zimmerman's father is white and his mother is a Latina from Peru.
