RTTNews - Monday, Germany's Federal Statistical Office said in a report that the import price index dropped 8.6% year-over-year in April, compared to the 7.1% fall in the previous month. This was the highest price decline since March 1987. Economists were looking a decline of 7.7%. A year ago, import prices were up 4.8%.

On a monthly basis, import prices decreased 0.8% in April, after falling 0.4% in March. Economists had predicted an increase of 0.1%.

Meanwhile, export prices declined 2% year-on-year in April, compared to the 1.7% drop in the previous month. Export prices dropped 0.1% compared to the preceding month.
