FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Consumer prices have grown in February at the same pace than in January, well above the 2% maximum rate established by the ECB's margin for price stability, food and energy have been among the largest contributors to push inflation up, according to data released by Destatis.

Consumer inflation has risen 0.5% on the month and 2.8% from February last year, the same growing rates as in January and in line with the experts' forecasts.

February's increase has been fuelled by energy prices; with liquid fuel 32,9% more expensive than in February last year or motor fuels 11.8% up on the year. Prices of food and non alcoholic drinks rose 7.4% on the year, and education, whose prices have risen 34.9% on the year.
