FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Consumer prices have continued moderating in Germany in January on the back of lower energy and leisure prices, according to preliminary data released by six regional surveys.

Prices at consumer level have declined 0.5% from December to January, while they went 0.9% up since January 2008; consumer prices have moderated considerably their year on year growing pace which peaked at 3.3% in June and July 2008.

Consumer inflation, if preliminary data is confirmed, would have increased softer than forecasted in January, as market experts had advanced a 0.4% monthly decline, and a 1.1% rise year on year.
