FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Prices at consumer level have increased somewhat above expectations in May in Germany, according to preliminary estimates by the German Statistics Office, Destatis.

Consumer prices have increased 0.6% from April to May, while they jumped 3.0% on a strong contribution from liquid fuels whose prices increased between 49.1% and 64.6% from May 2007.

The harmonised consumer price index, (HICP) is expected to rise 0.6% on the month, and 3.0% year-on-year.
