Wednesday, the German statistical office said the retail price index dropped 0.2% year-on-year in March. This was mainly due to a 16.3% fall in retail prices of sale of automotive fuel in specialized stores and a 28.6% decline in retail prices of liquid fuel.

The statistical office said the above figures are a result of recalculations in the retail price index, mainly relating to the inclusion of retail sale of automotive fuel in specialized stores in the index. So far, filling stations were covered by sales of motor vehicles.
