German trade surplus narrowed in December to 11.9 billion euros compared with the prior 12.9 billion euros surplus, which was revised to 13.1 billion euros surplus, and median estimates of 12.1 billion euros surplus.

Exports remained at 0.5%, below estimates of 1.0%, while imports dropped 2.3% from both prior and expected readings of 4.1% and 0.8%.

On the other hand, current account for the same month showed widened surplus to 17.6 billion euros from the previous surplus of 12.0 billion euros, which was upwardly revised to 12.9, above expectations of having 14.0 billion euros surplus.
