Brazil’s 7-1 loss to Germany in the 2014 World Cup was one of the most shocking in the history of the tournament. Fans of the team were devastated as Brazil lost without putting up a fight.

Germany kept piling on, scoring five goals in the first 29 minutes of the match. As Germany continued to increase its lead, more and more fans took to social media to discuss the contest. According to The Australian, it was the most tweeted about sports game in history. Twitter saw its most activity when Germany took a 5-0 lead, and as many as 35.6 million tweets were posted during the course of the match.

The match was so one-sided and the television cameras showed so many distraught fans that the contest produced a number of funny Twitter posts and gifs. Below are just a few of the best ones.
