On a rainy, windy, muddy day in Chicago, the San Francisco Giants played through the elements to beat the Cubs 3-0 in a weather-shortened game called by the umpires after six innings.

Giants starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong, a revelation for the Giants since replacing injured Barry Zito, pitched another stellar game, shutting out the Cubs over all six innings. Vogelsong kept his focus in spite of the weather, getting key outs on a day when a combined five errors were committed due to the slick field conditions.

Catcher Buster Posey singled in the first inning for the only RBI of the game. The Giants also scored two runs in the third inning on back-to-back throwing errors by the Cubs.
