The "Glee" Cory Monteith/ Finn Hudson tribute will air on Fox on Thursday, Oct. 10. Fox

Production on “Glee” is continuing to move forward as the cast and crew mourn the death of star Cory Monteith. With filming and the season five premiere date pushed back, fans now have a little more insight into the late actor’s tribute episode.

The latest scoop on Monteith’s “Glee” character, Finn, is that his farewell episode will “deal directly with drug addiction.” Fox president, Kevin Reilly, told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills that the third episode of season five will write off Finn, and will air a series of drug-related PSAs. “That is the episode and where Cory’s character will be written off and will deal directly with drug addiction and with the circumstances surrounding Cory’s death," said Reilly.

TV Line reports that it is a “possibility” that the show will use never-before-seen footage or outtakes of Cory Monteith, but it was neither confirmed nor denied by Reilly. The Fox president also wouldn’t directly say if the character of Finn will meet the same fate as his portrayer – although it was hinted at.

Reilly did reveal that the PSAs will feature “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy along with cast members. Specific actors participating in the PSAs are unknown.

Murphy previously told TV Line that they were working on the tribute to Monteith “very carefully” to make sure it had “a lot of taste.” The reasoning behind the Monteith/Finn tribute taking place during the third episode of the season is that “Glee” writers completed two Beatle tribute episodes back in May. “What we decided to do for the cast and crew was start shooting with something we had already written,” said Murphy. The creator explained that although they wanted to get everyone better and back to work, they wanted to “see how everybody feels.”

Kevin Reilly also dished a little bit about the future of “Glee” while at the 2013 TCA summer press tour. According to TV Guide, the president confirmed that seasons five and six will be the last of the series.

“Glee” returns for its fifth season on Sept. 26. The show will take a hiatus after episode three, the Cory Monteith/Finn tribute.
