Swiss commodities trader Glencore has opened up talks with sovereign wealth funds in China and Qatar to bring in a cornerstone investor ahead of its planned listing on the London Stock Exchange, The Sunday Times reported.

The paper said Glencore was in talks with the China Investment Corp and Qatar Investment Authority.

Separately, the Sunday Telegraph reported that Glencore's listing could come as early as the week starting April 18.

The Telegraph also said the company had brought in five new banks to join its existing investment bank advisers for the listing. The paper said it believed Goldman Sachs (GS.N) and Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAC.N) were among the five.

Glencore declined to comment.

Sources familiar with Glencore's plans have told Reuters the listing could be split between London and Hong Kong.
