The World Aids Day is observed on Dec. 1 every year, hoping to unite peoples of different countries in the fight against the killer disease.

The theme for this year is Getting to Zero. After 30 years of the global fight against HIV/AIDS, this year the focus will be on achieving three targets:

  • Zero new HIV infections
  • Zero discrimination
  • Zero AIDS-related deaths

Since the onset of the epidemic, over 33 million people worldwide have been inflicted with the illness and an estimated 30 million have died from AIDS-related causes.

Take a look at the deadly disease that knows no boundaries.
