Food prices across the globe rose in October, after stumbling for five months, buoyed by rising cereal, edible oils and a surge in sugar prices.

The Food and Agriculture Organization’s price index averaged 205.8 points in October, up 1.3 percent from September, Reuters reports.

FAO said it raised its forecast for world cereal output in 2013-2014 to 2.498 billion tons, up about 10 million tons from FAO’s previous estimate taken last month.
