General Motors Corp. Chief Executive Rick Wagoner received 41 percent more pay in 2007 than the previous year, according to a securities filing.

He earned $14.4 million, mostly through option grants, compared to $10.2 million a year earlier. Wagoner's salary was $1.56 million last year, up from $1.28 million in 2006.

The salary increase was mainly due to payments to an incentive-plan and an increase in the value of his pension.

In addition to salary, he received $6.34 million in stock options, $4 million in increased pension value and deferred compensation, $1.8 million from an incentive plan and other pay of $6.97 million.
