GM says Shanghai JV Feb China auto sales up 34 pct yr-on-yr

General Motors Co (GM.N) said on Wednesday that its Shanghai car venture sold 78,207 cars in China in February, up 34 percent from a year earlier.

Its overall vehicle sales in China totalled 184,498 units last month, GM said in an emailed statement. That represents a 5.8 percent rise year on year, according to company data.

The Detroit auto maker operates manufacturing ventures in China with SAIC Motor Corp and FAW Group, making cars, light commercial vehicles and minivans.
