Gold ended at its lowest level for the week on Friday.

Gold futures for February delivery fell $6.90, or 0.9 percent, to $800.20 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, making it the biggest percentage drop since November 30.

Over all the metal gained 1.4 percent since the beginning of this week. Prior to today, gold rallied 27 percent this year, heading for the seventh straight annual gain.
