Gold and silver production soared last quarter at Minefinders Corp. Ltd. facilities, the Vancouver-based company said Wednesday.

Gold production jumped to 16,278 ounces from 7,447, and silver production surged to 692,121 ounces from 184,887 ounces.

Production would have been higher if Minefinders hadn't had to conserve existing cyanide supplies in response to its primary supplier declaring force majeure at the end of June.

Shares of Minefinders, which operates the Dolores gold and silver mine in Mexico, was up in premarket trading 2 percent, to $15.
