On Sunday night, the 2017 Golden Globes will air on NBC and although there will be many familiar celebrities present, there is a ton of history behind the show that not everyone may know about.

With Jimmy Fallon scheduled to host the 74th annual ceremony, there is no doubt that Sunday night will be an interesting one, but before tuning in to NBC, check out some fun facts that you may not have known about the long-running ceremony.

1. New Nominees. Although this may be Ryan Reynolds’ first Golden Globe nomination, his 2016 movie “Deadpool” makes history as the first live-action superhero movie to be nominated for best motion picture.

2. Oldest Winner. The oldest person to ever win a Golden Globe was Jessica Tandy for best actress for her role in the 1990 film “Driving Miss Daisy,” she was 80 years old, according to People.

3. The Location. The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles has been home to the Golden Globes since 1961. The award show has been held there every year since, according to Metro U.S.

4. Traditions. When the Golden Globes first began, members of the Hollywood Foreign Press gave out the awards. However, one year James Dean, Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra rushed the stage to hand them out. The public loved it so much they were invited back to present the following year.

5. Repeat Winners. Although the Golden Globes have been running for well over 70 years, only four actresses have walked away with two awards in the same year. Kate Winslet in 2009, Helen Mirren in 2007, Joan Plowright in 1993 and Sigourney Weaver in 1989.

6. Youngest winner. The youngest person to win a Golden Globe was 9-year-old Ricky Schroder who took home best new star of the year for his role in the 1980 film, “The Champ.”

7. The Statue. Golden Globe statues are estimated to be worth $800 each and made out of 24k gold.

8. The Drinks. The bubbly will be in full force on Sunday night seeing as 9,000 of glasses of champagne are estimated to be poured throughout the ceremony.

9. Oscar Predictions. Thirty-two movies that won in the best drama category at the Golden Globes went on to win an Oscar for best picture.

10. Big Winners. “One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest,” “A Star Is Born” and “Doctor Zhivago” have all been nominated for five awards and won all five times, ET Canada reported.

11. Big Red Carpet. Celebrities are going to wish they brought their walking shoes when they hit the red carpet. It is estimated be 30,000 square feet.

The 2017 Golden Globes will air live on Sunday at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
