"Good Morning America" co-anchor Robin Roberts publicly acknowledged her girlfriend for the first time in a pre-New Year Facebook post on Sunday, which thanked her loved ones who stood by her and helped her through critical times in her life.

“I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health. I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together,” Roberts posted on her Facebook page, along with a flashback photo with her dog exactly a year ago.

While Roberts, 53, did not mention her girlfriend's last name in her post, according to reports, she has been identified as Amber Laign, a licensed massage therapist from San Francisco. Roberts met Amber through mutual friends almost a decade ago.

Over the past few years, Roberts has faced many health-related complications. According to reports, in 2012, she was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, or MDS, a blood disorder in the bone marrow.

During this time, she took a medical leave from “Good Morning America.” In February 2013, she returned to the show and won a Peabody Award the same year for “Robin’s Journey,” a series of TV reports that narrated her fight against MDS.

In her Facebook post, Roberts also thanked her sister, Sally-Ann, who donated bone marrow for Roberts’ surgery. Five years earlier, the television personality was treated for breast cancer.

Roberts, in her Facebook post, quoted a Chinese philosopher, saying: “If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.”

According to reports, Roberts is currently writing a book about all that she has learned from her health problems. The book is due to be published in April by Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette Book Group.
