Michael (Ted Danson) re-launches his latest version of The Bad Place in Season 2, episode 3 of “The Good Place.” Although Eleanor (Kristen Bell) no longer has a note for herself to find Chidi (William Jackson Harper) this time around, it still doesn’t take long before she meets him.

In a sneak peek from this week’s episode of the NBC series, Eleanor summons Janet (D’Arcy Carden) after the former realizes that she doesn’t really belong in The Good Place. “What if I, an already amazing person who definitely belongs here, wanted to learn even more about how to be a good person?” Eleanor asks. “Is one of these nerds like a teacher or a life coach or an Instagram fitness model or something?”

Janet then introduces Eleanor to Chidi, her original soulmate in the first version of Michael’s The Bad Place. “Janet tells me that you’re a professor of some kind?” Eleanor asks.

“Yes, I was a professor of Ethics and Moral Philosophy focusing on Deontology,” Chidi replies.

Although Eleanor thinks that Chidi is “too big of a nerd” for her, another sneak peek from the episode reveals that she ends up taking Ethics 101 with him.

But just like at the beginning of Season 1, Eleanor is having a difficult time focusing on the lecture. When Chidi calls her out for not listening, she asks him to start from the very beginning. But Chidi is no longer in the mood.

“I need a little break,” he tells his student. “Can we take a walk or something? Maybe get some clam chowder?”

But instead of going to a restaurant to get some clam chowder, Chidi brings Eleanor to a clam-chowder fountain where he casually scoops out soup using a mug.

When Chidi wonders why no one is enjoying the fountain but him, Eleanor says: “Maybe they finally figure out that clam chowder is disgusting because it’s basically a savory latte with bugs in it.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last June, series creator Michael Schur said that the clam-chowder fountain is actually a “torture device that became funny enough to imagine being put forth as a positive thing.”

“The Good Place” Season 2, episode 3, titled “Dance Dance Resolution,” airs on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 8:30 p.m. EDT on NBC. Watch the sneak peeks below:
