Google Inc has won another round in a patent fight with a company called Bid for Position, which had accused Google of infringing a patent with its AdWords advertising system.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Wednesday affirmed a lower court ruling that Google Inc and AOL did not infringe the patent.

Bid for Position had said Google's AdWords, which runs auctions to determine ad placement, infringed its patent for running a continuous auction.

The case had been appealed from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The case is Bid for Position v. AOL and Google, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, 09-1068.
