In 2015, Google had released Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P smartphones built by LG and Huawei, respectively. A tipster from China has revealed that Google will be working with HTC to manufacture two Nexus smartphones for 2016.

The Nexus One smartphone that was released in 2010 and Nexus 9 tablet that came out in 2014 are both HTC products. Now, a Chinese tipster has revealed on Weibo that 2016 Nexus smartphones will be manufactured by HTC, Gadgetz Arena reported.

The tipster has also added that the 2016 Nexus smartphones will be featuring smaller displays in comparison to Nexus smartphones from 2015. The LG Nexus 5X has a display of 5.2-inch whereas the Huawei Nexus 6P has a screen of 5.7-inch. However, the Nexus 5X successor by HTC will be fitted with a 5-inch display and the Nexus 6P successor will be coming with a 5.5-inch display.

In 2014, the Motorola Nexus 6 was launched with a huge display of 5.96-inch display. Since its users complained that it is unwieldly device, the Huawei Nexus 6P was launched with a smaller screen of 5.7-inch. Hence, it is likely that Google Nexus 2016 smartphones will come with smaller screens.

Even though the Taiwanese company’s recent smartphones like HTC One A9, HTC One M9, HTC One M8 and others have received good reception, its business has been suffering and it is consistently losing popularity. Its collaboration with Google for releasing 2016 Nexus smartphones will certainly help in making the brand popular.

The tipster has also added that Huawei was expected to build this year’s Nexus smartphone, but HTC was chosen in the end. Currently, Google has not confirmed on which company will be building the Nexus 2016 smartphones.
