Google’s Pixel 2 phones are shrouded in mystery, but a new report may have given everyone a glimpse of their specifications.

The larger device codenamed taimen is said to come with a 5.99-inch display with a 1440p screen resolution. The screen will be an OLED panel provided by LG, and bezels are expected to be smaller than the ones found on the original Pixel XL.

The involvement of LG for at least one of these devices is no big surprise. Google has invested heavily on LG Display, and LG has made Nexus devices for Google before. LG Electronics is now believed to be the company that’s going to manufacture the taimen device for Google.

The device is also said to come with a Snapdragon 835 processor along with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, according to XDA-Developers’ source. The Snapdragon 835 processor on the taimen device is said to be clocked at the reference of 2.45GHz frequency, which is higher than the original Pixel XL. It’s also unclear whether the taimen device will have other storage options, but it is very likely.

As for the the taimen device’s build, it’s expected to still come with the similar two-tone glass and metal finish from the original Pixel XL back. However, the glass layer is said to be located near the top of the device and will not enclose the fingerprint scanner. The taimen device is also said to come with a single camera with a dual LED flash.

As for the device codenamed walleye, this will be the smaller Pixel 2 and will feature a 4.97-inch display with a screen resolution of 1080p full HD. Design-wise, this will be similar to the original Google Pixel, including the large bezels.

Google is also said to be planning on putting stereo speakers. However, this also means that the walleye device won’t arrive with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The source says that the headphone jack is absent on this iteration of the device, but it should be available on the larger taimen device.

As for internals, this will also arrive with the Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Again, it wasn’t made clear if the walleye device will come with different storage options, but that is very likely. Most flagships these days have 128GB storage options, and it would be very disappointing if walleye arrives with only just 64GB of storage.

The source that provided information on the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL also found an interesting tidbit about the devices’ pre-production software. The walleye device’s fingerprint sensor software is named as “Pixel Imprint,” while the sensor software on the taimen device is named as “Nexus Imprint.”

It really is unclear whether this indicates the return of the Nexus brand, but as stated before, LG has made Nexus devices in the past. It’s possible that this is simply a placeholder or a branding issue. LG could just be reusing the name and it could be changed by the time Google officially reveals the both of the devices, as pointed out by Android Police.
