Barbara Gotham Season 2
Barbara (Erin Richards) will change once again after reawakening from a coma on Fox's "Gotham." Will it be for better or worse? Fox

Detective Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) is going to have his hands full when "Gotham" Season 2 returns to Fox in February. Gordon will not only have to deal with two new villains — Mr. Freeze (Nathan Darrow) and Dr. Hugo Strange (B.D. Wong) — but his crazy ex-fiancée, Barbara Kean (Erin Richards), will reappear. Barbara was last seen in a coma, but it sounds like she'll soon awaken and could stir up more trouble once again.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Richards revealed that not only will Barbara wake up from her coma, but the character is going to come back "completely different." Barbara has already went through changes on the show going from Jim's girlfriend to a crazed lunatic working for Theo Galavan (James Frain).

"You know, you go into a coma, you're going to come out a little different. It's ambiguous as to whether she is actually changed, or whether she's not changed [and pretending]," Richards dished.

She added that Barbara will also dig deeper into the relationship with Jim, in terms of their past and current relationship. Richards also said that she has more fun playing the villain version of Barbara and referred to it as "spicy" and "free."

In episode 8, Theo sent Barbara after Gordon to keep the detective distracted while he tried to deal with Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz). Barbara kidnapped Gordon's current girlfriend, Dr. Leslie "Lee" Thompkins (Morena Baccarin), and Gordon had to save her. At the end of the episode, Barbara tried to kill Gordon with a knife and she ends up falling out of a window. She broke several bones and was put into a coma.

The reemergence of Barbara could really complicate things for Gordon. After stopping Theo, Gordon asked Lee to marry him after he learned that she is pregnant with his child. Could Barbara complicate the pending marriage and family Gordon will have in the near future?

"Gotham" Season 2 returns to Fox on Monday, Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. EST.
