Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) will be reconnecting with his estranged Uncle Frank (James Remar) in "Gotham" Season 3. Fox

Ben McKenzie, who stars as Jim Gordon in the Fox show “Gotham,” is pretty excited for what’s in store for his character this Season 3, but the thing he’s most excited about is meeting the new villain Jervis Tetch, also known as the Mad Hatter.

“We're bringing in a whole new crop of villains, including Mad Hatter, who is a personal favourite of mine from the comics. I'm fascinated to see what the actor we have hired — Benedict Samuel — does with that,” McKenzie said, according to the Business Standard.

As for Gordon, McKenzie is happy that he is finally moving on from his past life by getting his own apartment. McKenzie is also happy that fans have noticed it.

“I'm so glad that audiences care about things like this because I feel like I'm the only one sometimes. I tell the producers, ‘What does it take for the lead actor to get his own set?’ Breaking news; big news: Jim has his own apartment in Season Three,” he said.

But that’s not all that’s going to happen to Gordon. He was last seen licking his wounds from his last relationship with Dr. Lee Thompkins (Morena Baccarin). He might not be looking for a new relationship, but reporter Valerie Vale (Jamie Chung) is going to keep his interest at bay.

When McKenzie first meets Valerie, she offers him a deal to track down Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith). Even though their agreement is strictly professional, McKenzie told TV Line that something else will develop between them.

“Jim likes that she’s so aggressive, that she’s so unapologetic,” the actor said. “She almost literally slaps him back into taking stock of his life, and that’s something that a guy in his position can appreciate.”

As for Barbara Kean, who is another one of Gordon’s ex-girlfriends, Comic Book Resources reported that she is going to be busy running her own club called The Sirens.

“Gotham” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
