Selina Kyle, played by Carmen Bicondova, will come face-to-face with her mother in “Gotham” Season 3. Fox

Selina Kyle (Carmen Bicondova) from the Fox show “Gotham” grew up in the streets without any parents to guide her. But this Season 3, Selina is in for a surprise since she’s going to come face-to-face with her mother.

According to TV Line, “Banshee” alum Ivana Milicevic has just been cast for a recurring role this season as Maria Kyle, who is described as “a tough-as-nails operator with an arsenal of street smarts.”

It’s evident who Selina takes after, since her mother is a world-class drifter who has the ability to hide her true self behind a plethora of personas. She is a “criminal through and through,” and she will stop at nothing to get what she wants. However, Maria has a weakness - her daughter. Maria feels guilty for abandoning Selina, the only person in the world she truly loves.

While Maria is keen on making amends with her daughter, Selina is not and will probably push her mother away. “It doesn’t really go the way Selina expected it to,” Bicondova said of Selina’s reunion with her mother. “It doesn’t take a good turn!”

Will Maria’s appearance impact Selina’s life choices moving forward? Bicondova told Gotham Magazine that it probably will, since Selina will be headed towards a “darker path” this season.

“She’s going to be going down a darker path for sure; she’s going to be going through more of a roller coaster when it comes to life. She’s going to be evolving in her relationship with Bruce [Wayne],” she said.

The same can be said of her love interest, Bruce (David Mazouz), who is going to explore his playboy persona with the help of his doppelgänger. “We’re gonna play with that playboy persona, party boy persona, but it’s not going to be used to cover up secret affairs that are going on, secret investigations, or secret fighting with evil. It’s going to be a reality. We haven’t shot much of it yet but it’ll be coming towards the middle of the season,” Mazouz told Decider.

“Gotham” airs every Monday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
