Gotham
Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) will continue to butt heads in “Gotham” Season 4. FOX

Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) has gotten on famously well with his partner at work, Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue). Even during times of trouble, it was Bullock who had Gordon’s back.

But this Season 4 of “Gotham,” something shifted in their relationship. When Gordon wanted to go after Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) and take down his organized crime system, Bullock refused to support him. Bullock believed that Gotham City is doing pretty well under Cobblepot’s leadership, so why should he mess things up? On the other hand, Gordon thinks what Cobblepot is doing is just plain wrong.

McKenzie told Comic Book Resources that Gordon and Bullock’s bromance might be put at risk this season because of their differing beliefs.

“With us… the two of us, this conflict that starts off at the beginning of the season only gets deeper and deeper and deeper until the point where something has to break and at the end of the day their relationship breaks,” he said. “At least for a while. And it’s all tied up in what is law enforcement’s role in Gotham, if any. What does it mean, but how Jim gets there and how he gets to where he’s going to get to takes a price and Harvey knows that price. So, I’m not a boy scout any more, and we both kind of have to look at each other with cold sober eyes and reevaluate each other.”

Because of this, Gordon is left with no choice but to team up with Sofia Falcone (Crystal Reed). “An unlikely alliance is formed to take down Penguin,” McKenzie told Entertainment Weekly. “But once you’re in bed with a gangster, you’re in bed with a gangster.”

Sofia is the sister of Mario Falcone (James Carpinello), the man Gordon was forced to kill last season in order to protect his former fiancee, Dr. Leslie “Lee” Thompkins (Morena Baccarin). Given this fact, Sofia’s relationship with Gordon might be a complicated one, but executive producer John Stephens said they will get along well. “That’s going to be a really compelling and interesting relationship,” Stephens said of their partnership.

“Gotham” Season 4 airs every Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
