Grammy Award
The Grammy Awards are billed as the biggest night in music, but for years it's been seen as one of the most commercial and uninspired of awards shows, with missteps, overlooked artists and incomprehensible choices dominating many of the Grammy shows over the years. Creative Commons

The 2013 Grammy nominations were announced Wednesday with Frank Ocean, Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons and Fun. as the top nominees.

The 55th annual Grammy Awards will air on Sunday, Feb. 10, on CBS. Unlike the American Music Awards, which are decided by fans, the Grammy Awards are chosen by a committee of industry professionals.

Ocean, Jay-Z, Fun., Mumford & Sons and Kanye West each received six nominations. The Black Keys and Miguel both came in a close second with five nominations each.

Missing from the lineup, though, was Justin Bieber, who took home three American Music Awards last month. Many, including the Bieb's manager, believe the 18-year-old pop phenom was snubbed of Grammy nods.

"I just plain DISAGREE," Scooter Braun, his manager and Schoolboy Records boss, tweeted. "The kid deserved it. Grammy board u blew it on this one."

The girls were also on fire as Grammy nominees, with Kelly Clarkson on top with four nominations. Taylor Swift received three nominations while newcomer Carly Rae Jepson scored two for her hit single, "Call Me Maybe."

Album of the Year nominees included The Black Keys for "El Camino," Fun. for "Some Nights," Mumford & Sons for "Babel," Frank Ocean for "Channel Orange" and Jack White for "Blunderbuss." Record of the Year has The Black Keys for "Lonely Boy," Kelly Clarkson for "Stronger," Fun. for "We Are Young" featuring Janelle Monae, Gotye for "Somebody That I Used To Know" featuring Kimbra, Frank Ocean for "Thinkin Bout You" and Taylor Swift for "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."
