Tim Meadows has landed a guest-starring role on NBC’s “Great News.”

The “SNL” alum will appear in Season 2, episode 12 of the series as the attorney of MMN, who comes into the picture after “The Breakdown” was sued by billionaire Fenton Pelt (Jim Rash).

According to the synopsis for the installment, Greg (Adam Campbell) and Meadows’ character specifically order Katie (Briga Heelan) to leave Fenton alone. But because Katie is so determined to bring Fenton down, she reluctantly teams up with Chuck (John Michael Higgins) even though he has been suspended from the show.

Last episode, “The Breakdown” team found out that Fenton’s Smug Meadow Farms is suing them over a story they did about them. Smug Meadow Farms is claiming that the story the news program did about them was inaccurate. But later in the episode, it was revealed that Fenton actually filed the lawsuit just to ruin Chuck’s life, as the news anchor humiliated him on television 40 years ago.

Back in 1977, Chuck interviewed Fenton after he won a teen science fair. But instead of focusing on Fenton’s project, Chuck claimed on air that Fenton was lying about his age. “I did some digging and discovered that Fenton Pelt is really a 29 year old [not 15] who’s been lying about his age to win science competitions for children,” Chuck said during the actual interview. “Kid genius? More like adult loser?”

Elsewhere in this week’s episode, Carol (Andrea Martin) is excited about her new position at “Morning Wined Up” following her explosive fight with Katie. But Carol’s excitement quickly turns into disappointment when she realizes that her new job offers less responsibility than she had hoped.

In addition to being part of “SNL” from 1991 to 2000, Meadows is also known for his roles as Mr. Glascott on ABC’s “The Goldbergs,” Mike on Fox’s “Bob’s Burgers,” and Detective Judd Tolbeck on CBS All Access’ “No Activity,” among many others.

Aside from Meadows, Rachel Dratch and Ana Gasteyer also guest star in this week’s episode of “Great News.”

“Great News” Season 2, episode 12, titled “The Fast Track,” airs on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 9:30 p.m. EST on NBC.
