Chuck is having a visitor in the next episode of “Great News.”

Chuck’s (John Michael Higgins) son Petey (Will Sasso) will stop by the “Breakdown” headquarters for the holidays in Season 2, episode 7 of the NBC comedy. But because the father and son aren’t really close to one another, it’s won’t be a surprise if Petey’s visit would only cause trouble for the anchorman.

While it’s unclear why Chuck has been estranged from Petey, series creator Tracey Wigfield told Entertainment Weekly that the latter is a “gross dirtbag who invented wine for dudes.” “Each bottle was kissed by a playmate,” explained Wigfield. “It was made in vats of electric guitars underneath a rollercoaster, and the flavors it came in were, like, black and grey.”

According to the synopsis for the episode, Chuck tasks Katie (Briga Heelan) to babysit Petey. But as Katie looks after Petey in the office, the “Breakdown” segment producer tries to get the father and son to reconnect and solve their issues.

Elsewhere in the episode, Carol (Andrea Martin) finds herself in a reverse “Christmas Carol” during which she realizes that she has so much Christmas spirit in her that she ends up driving everyone around her insane.

Season 2, episode 7, titled “A Christmas Carol Wendelson,” will air back-to-back with Season 2, episode 8 on Thursday, Dec. 21, starting at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.

In the follow-up episode, titled “Sensitivity Training,” Carol and Chuck refuse to attend Sensitivity Training and decide to teach the rest of the “snowflakes in the office” a lesson.

Also in the installment, according to the synopsis for the episode, Katie is excited about her new boyfriend, Jeremy (Reid Scott), but Portia (Nicole Richie) suspects Katie might just be a side piece.

Katie met Jeremy for the first time at the American Journalism Awards in Season 2, episode 4. Although Jeremy initially looked down at Katie for working in cable news, the handsome New York Times reporter developed feelings for her when he invited her to do some “real reporting” in Season 2, episode 6, in which they ended up kissing.
