The leaders of the Greek largest political parties, George Papandreou and Antonis Samaras, called on lawmakers to commit and back the new cuts suggested by the government as the nation attempts to sceure the second bailout package, as international lenders required commitment to the budget targets so Greece will become eligible for the financial aid worth 130 billion euros.

Yesterday, Lucas Papademos's government approved deeper budget and spending cuts needed to meet targets and obtain the second bailout package; however, the decision will go to the parliament for a final vote tomorrow as lawmakers will decide whether to obtain the financial deal and commit to further austerity or facing a financial collapse in March as the nation must return 14.5 billion euros of maturing bonds.
