Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou on Tuesday played down speculation of a joint euro-bond issue, as the country faces financial difficulties.

While he said it is a good idea, he noted it was too speculative to help his country, Dow Jones newswires reported. He said he was committed to resolving the nation's public finances.

The European Commission is expected to say on Wednesday whether it will accept Greece's plan to reduce its budget deficit, according to the report.
