During New York trading on Monday, the US currency traded up against the Mexican peso. The greenback climbed to a 1-week high of 14.4115 versus the peso by about 12:20 pm ET from earlier low of 14.0375. The pair that closed Friday's deals at 14.1726 is now worth 14.28. If the dollar strengthens further, it may test resistance around the 14.57 level.

According to a report released by the US National Association of Realtors on Monday, existing home sales rose 5.1 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.72 million units in February from a pace of 4.49 million units in January.
