CBS Sports suspended longtime college basketball and NBA analyst Greg Anthony for the rest of the season after he was arrested for soliciting prostitution in Washington, D.C. Friday.

CBS responded to Reuters in an email announcing Anthony’s suspension Saturday.

"Greg Anthony will not be working again for CBS this season," the email read.

D.C. affiliate WJLA first reported Anthony’s arrest Friday night, stating he was detained at 5:46 p.m. and faces misdemeanor charges that could be punishable by up to 180 days in jail.

Anthony was in the D.C. area to call the Michigan State-Maryland matchup Saturday.

News of the former New York Knick's arrest and his suspension quickly hit social media, where fans and Anthony’s colleagues expressed feelings of dismay and shock. Others called the suspension hypocritical and even questioned whether prostitution should be illegal.
