“Grey’s Anatomy” will be airing its anticipated epsiode 23, “Everything I Try to Do, Nothing Seems to Turn Out Right,” on Thursday, May 8 at 9 p.m. EDT. And it sounds like the Austin Guzman written episode is setting up for the Season 10 finale that’s rumored to shake things up.

According to the synopsis for this week’s episode, via ABC, fans can expect Meredith to spend some quality sister-time with Amelia, now that Derek’s away, and find out what her true feelings about her time in Seattle are. Bailey will have to face the ramifications of her actions while Callie will take on a similar devastating moment as she receives disastrous news. “Meanwhile, the residents panic after hearing that one of them will be fired,” the summary continued.

Yikes. So, which intern will be getting the axe? According to TV Guide, the resident let go from Grey Sloan won’t be a surprising choice for viewers. In fact, the most shocking part of episode 23 will be the person who actually lands on their feet when the anxiety-driven news tries to knock the residents down. Even the thought of their jobs being threatened will be so stressful that it will drive one doctor to “suffer a malady.” Good thing they’re in a hospital!

Now that the synopsis has been covered, did you find anything suspicious about the summary for “Everything I Try to Do, Nothing Seems to Turn Out Right”? That’s right, Cristina Yang isn’t mentioned. Not even once. Why? According to a leaked sneak peek, Sandra Oh’s character will play a vital role in episode 23 when she’s forced to hire her replacement, which is why it’s rather suspect her name wasn’t slipped into the episode 23 preparation roundup.

“Hey, the first candidate is here and waiting in the conference room,” Owen tells Cristina just as she’s stuffing a waffle in her mouth. She quickly swallows and heads off with Meredith by her side to meet the first applicant.

“So, I still can’t believe he’s making you pick your replacement,” Meredith says a bit confused.

Cristina clears things up saying she was interviewing Dr. Russell’s replacement not her own but her best friend isn’t convinced.

“It’s a punishment. It’s like making you clean the apartment you’re vacating,” Meredith explains.

“No. Owen knows this is the right move for me. He’s been nothing but supportive,” Cristina rebuttals.

Meredith shakes her head, “Something’s coming. I can feel it in my bones.”

That’s when they get a glimpse at the hot, chiseled, Don Draper-esque candidate.

“Ew,” Meredith quips while Cristina says something about hating his (beautiful) face.

“OK, now look me in the eye and tell me this isn’t a punishment,” Meredith says.

Now, that is what they call cruel and unusual punishment, my friends.
