“Grey’s Anatomy” will be taking a winter hiatus until 2015 – we know, we know, that’s a long time to be without Shonda Rhimes’ hit ABC series. But according to actress Caterina Scorsone, the wait for “Grey’s Anatomy” will definitely be worth it when episode 9 airs.

When “Risk” concluded -- with a slew of nail-biting cliffhangers -- fans were left to celebrate the holiday season with questions inquiries in their heads. But how can we enjoy pumpkin pie with Dr. Herman’s life hanging in the air?

Are Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) really broken up? Will Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) be able to tell ex-boyfriend Jackson (Jesse Williams) that his unborn baby, which he’s having with April (Sarah Drew), has osteogenesis imperfecta? And can Amelia (Scorsone) remove the life-threatening tumor from Dr. Herman (Geena Davis)?

These are all questions we’re itching to have answered – and it looks like we’re not the only ones! "I'm a fan of the show too, so I'm just so excited to see it return!" Scorsone said during an interview with E! News.

The actress then gave fans an early Christmas gift by teasing what viewers should expect when “Grey’s Anatomy” airs its first episode of the new year. "I can't wait to see how all the particular stories unfold. But I am — well, I don't want to say excited, because that's not the right word — I'm drawn into Kepner and Avery's baby story in part because it resonates so deeply in Amelia's backstory," she revealed.

Like April and Jackson’s child, who has been predicted to die by Dr. Herman, Amelia’s baby also had an incurable disease. Her child was anencephalic, which meant it had no brain. “She had a really difficult journey with her baby,” Scorsone said of her character to E! News. “It will be incredibly interesting to see how their story plays out."

You can say that again!

What do you think will happen when “Grey’s Anatomy” returns to ABC on Thursday, Jan. 29, at 8 p.m. EST for the midseason premiere?
