“Grey’s Anatomy” fans just can’t catch a break! According to the synopsis for the upcoming installment of the hit ABC series, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) will be forced to put their personal problems aside on Thursday night when another “catastrophic event” hits Seattle. So what kind of drama should viewers expect to go down in “Time Stops”? Well, from the looks of episode 24’s sneak-peek video, audiences should prepare themselves for a deadly infrastructure collapse.

In the minute-long trailer, an ambulance pulls up to the terrifying scene of where a bridge has just buckled. Mer, Amelia, April (Sarah Drew) and Maggie (Kelly McCreary) scurry out from the back of the vehicle only to be greeted by a stern-faced (and handsome) firefighter.

“You’re the surgeons from Grey Sloan?” he asks before leading the four doctors through a sea of injured people. According to the firefighter, the surgeons were called in to help one specific victim -- a patient that was in desperate need of critical care.

Keith, the name of the injured man, was crushed by debris when the bridge fell. Although the firefighters were able to get his wife out of the automobile, they weren’t successful in trying to remove Keith from the totaled vehicle.

“Oh my God. He’s in there?” Maggie asks in shock after seeing the damaged car, crushed like a pancake. “He’s alive?”

“Barely,” the firefighter replies.

The camera then cuts to Amelia who sees this dilemma as nothing more than a challenge to prove just how talented she really is.

In a previous promo video released by ABC, Amelia argues with Meredith that her sister-in-law should have called her before deciding to take Derek (Patrick Dempsey) off of life support.

“I pull of miracles for a living. I have proven that I can reverse the impossible,” the neurosurgeon said, adding that she could have saved her brother.

Maybe Amelia will get her chance to showcase her wondrous skills in episode 24.

Tune in to “Grey’s anatomy” when “Time Stops” airs on Thursday, May 7, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
