“Grey’s Anatomy” is going back in time.

According to reports, ABC’s long-running medical drama will be hitting the rewind button during a Season 12 episode to tell the epic and tumultuous love story of Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew). Entertainment Weekly confirmed the exciting news, revealing that the flashback episode, set to air Feb. 25, would recount several scenes between the couple throughout the series — including the very first time they met!

We’re hoping this medley of Japril-centric moments won’t be a farewell montage of the couple, who is currently on the brink of divorce. During Season 11, Jackson left his wife with an ultimatum — one that said if she was to voluntary go overseas for military duty then he wouldn’t be waiting for her when she arrived home. But April, who was suffering immensely from the loss of her child, needed an out. So, she left and risked the fate of her relationship when she walked out the door.

When Season 12 picked up, several months into the future, it was revealed that Jackson no longer wanted to have a relationship with April, who had returned home from Jordan. April, however, was determined to get her marriage back on track. She was relentless in her attempt to fix their relationship and it appeared April had figured out how to glue the pieces of their shattered marriage together in the winter finale.

In episode 8, April asked Jackson to tell her what he wanted. Although the installment cut before audiences learned his answer, they did see a hint of a smile peek out from the corners of Jackson’s mouth. Unfortunately viewers will have to wait until episode 11 to learn the fate of Japril.

“You do find out what Jackson was going to say to April,” Drew revealed to TVLine. “But not in the first episode back.”

According to the actress, fans will get “little snippets” of what happened in episode 9 and 10, “but 11 is a big one” for Japril fans. “It was so much fun to shoot, an epic journey and every actor’s dream basically. It’s one of those special episodes,” Drew revealed to Entertainment Weekly, before teasing the fate of Japril. “As long as they’re alive, there is always hope.”

“Grey’s Anatomy” will return with its Season 12 winter premiere on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
