Grey Sloan memorial hospital’s got a hot, new doc! And while fans were excited to meet the scruffy, blue-eyed surgeon named Nathan Riggs (Martin Henderson) during episode 6 of “Grey’s Anatomy,” not everyone was ready to give the New Zealand native a warm welcome.

When Owen (Kevin McKidd) spotted Riggs wandering around outside the hospital he was less than thrilled. However, the redheaded surgeon managed to brush off the run in with the mysterious character from his past -- that is, until Bailey (Chandra Wilson) revealed she hired Riggs to work as a cardiothoracic attending under Maggie (Kelly McCreary) in episode 7.

“This is a bad call. This is a really bad call!” Owen screamed when he learned the news.

So, what exactly is the beef between these two beefy surgeons? Well, McKidd revealed to Entertainment Weekly that audiences “will definitely get more information” about the feud during the Season 12 winter finale of “Grey’s Anatomy,” which is set to air Thursday, Nov. 19.

“We’re going to get more, but not all of it, and not the key elements to it. We’re going to get very enticing hints next week, and hints that people will be able to draw their own conclusions,” he said, revealing that the “actual spelling out” will go down when the ABC medical drama returns from its winter hiatus.

“All I’ll say is it’s life and death,” McKidd teased just how intense Owen and Riggs’ issues with one another are. “It’s a life and death thing.”

This leads us to believe that Owen must have met Riggs while in the army together -- especially after Riggs' arrival ignited Owen’s PTSD. In October, the actor dished to TVLine that somebody from his past would come along. “Owen doesn’t react particularly well,” he revealed how his character would respond to the newcomer.

Things between Owen and Riggs will get so heated that the Head of Trauma will even throw a left hook at the handsome doc, which was revealed in a promo video for the upcoming episode.

“He’s not being very rational at all, with good reason,” McKidd addressed his characters illogical reaction to Riggs’ debut during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “Once it all comes out -- and it’s going to take a while for the whole truth to come out -- it’s understandable why Owen’s being this way. But it’s very mysterious.”

Fans will watch Owen and Riggs' relationship take a troubling turn during the Season 12 winter finale of “Grey’s Anatomy,” which is set to air Thursday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
