Could Callie Torres be getting ready to hang up her scrubs and say goodbye to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital? Sara Ramirez, who plays Callie on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” sparked rumors that she could be calling it quits in a cryptic tweet.

On Wednesday evening, Ramirez caused “Grey’s Anatomy” fans to panic when she tweeted a message that some believe was an announcement that she’s quitting the long-running Shonda Rhimes series.

Ramirez hasn’t responded to the rumors but posted Thursday, “#TGIT #BuckleUp for the ride! #GreysAnatomy.”

According to TV Line, there are several possible explanations for the actress’ Twitter post. She could be leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” or it could be a way for her to add leverage when she makes contract negotiations. The outlet reported that Ramirez’s contract ends in June, following the show’s Season 12 finale.

While fans will have to wait and see what’s going to happen to Callie, a synopsis for Thursday’s episode 21, titled “You’re Gonna Need Someone On Your Side,” teases that the character and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) will be “at odds and put their friends in the middle of an uncomfortable situation.” The two ladies are currently going through a messy custody battle.

It appears that the drama between Callie and Arizona won’t be resolved at the end of Thursday’s episode. TV Line previously teased that the finale, airing May 19, is a “really emotional episode” because several of the characters are going through some tough times. “It’s all about matters of the heart, and the culmination of a lot of challenges that we’ve seen in the major relationships, [especially] April and Jackson, Callie and Arizona, and Owen and Amelia,” the outlet wrote.
