“Grand Theft Auto 5” has been all the rage since it was released a couple of weeks ago, but the multiplayer part, which is one of its main features, has been missing -- until Tuesday, when it is to debut online, Rockstar Games revealed in a blog post Monday night.

The gaming company didn’t give an exact time, but at 8 p.m. EDT wrote there were “just hours remaining until the initial launch” and gave 7 a.m. as a roundabout time. The online version of the game has been highly anticipated since it will reportedly evolve over time. Updates and tweaks to the online "GTA 5" can be expected in the upcoming weeks and months, Rockstar Games said on its website.

Rockstar provided some tips for users and said tutorial tips would be updated regularly after the online launch of “GTA 5.” Anyone who has already bought "Grand Theft Auto 5" will have free access to the online launch, where it will be able to be downloaded on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.

Rockstar added that the game has been geared to be made more fair as far as GTA$ is concerned. The games company said in the blog post: “No one can begin GTA Online and simply spend a lot of money out of the gate to get a leg up.”

“You will have to earn your stripes and play to unlock access to the aspirational clothes, guns and other items. Please also remember that in GTA Online, hustling to afford the finer things by earning GTA$ doing robberies, stick-ups, winning races and other profitable activities is a fun gameplay experience rather than ever being a ‘grind.’”

Rockstar also elaborated on the character creation system. Users will be able to create avatars by deciding their gender and then choosing parents. The site said one parent can have genetic dominance over the other, or they can be equal. Also, lifestyle variables will be decided, which will determine whether the avatar participates in honest work versus illegal activity. Some of the other features will include how much partying the avatar does and how much sleep it gets. Customization down to dress and haircut are also possible.

In the near future, Rockstar Games added there will be a “GTA” online forum where users can talk to one another about the game, where up to 16 players can experience the "GTA 5" world together.
