While Marvel continues to expand its movie universe, many fans are curious about the sequel to its most enigmatic film in the franchise, “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Now, one of the film’s principal stars is sharing details about his character and when the super team will crossover with the Avengers.

Dave Bautista, who many know as Drax The Destroyer from the 2014 hit, says that his character won’t have changed much when “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2” hits theaters in 2017. For those that don’t remember, Drax was the muscular alien bent on getting revenge for the death of his wife and kids. He had a penchant for taking things too literally and often missed colloquial metaphors. Speaking to CinemaBlend, the actor revealed that his character’s non-metaphorical nature will return, as well as his mission to seek revenge on the man responsible for his loss, whom he now knows to be the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin). Although the actor has yet to read the screenplay for the upcoming movie, he says that he hopes it will eventually allow him to crossover with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s other great team.

“As far as the storyline as a whole, I honestly don’t know, and if I did know obviously I wouldn’t tell you,” he said. “But I hope they’ll continue on with that path, and -- fingers crossed as a fan -- I hope that it will tie in with ‘The Avengers’ somewhere down the road. I’ve only heard rumors, but I’m being honest, and I’ve been honest in the past, I hope that it ends up there because I would love to go there.”

As many fans know, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) Captain America (Chris Evans) and the rest of the “Avengers” gang will be battling Thanos in the two-part movie event “Avengers: Infinity War.” While many have speculated that one of these two films would be a remarkable place to showcase a “Guardians” and “Avengers” team up, nothing has been confirmed. However, Bautista’s comments seem to hint at something special on the horizon.

The actor is currently self-promoting his role as a James Bond (Daniel Craig) villain in the upcoming blockbuster in the popular “007” franchise, “Spectre.” According to Entertainment Weekly, the former WWE wrestler-turned-actor plays a physically imposing villain to Bond named Hinx. In an interview with the outlet, the actor revealed that Hinx, while a muscled fighter, has the intelligence and charisma that Drax never did. Unfortunately, for more of the alien with a heart of gold, fans are going to have to wait until “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2” hits theaters on May 5, 2017. However, for more of Dave Bautista, they need only to wait for “Spectre” to hit theaters on Nov. 6.
