The hacker known as “Guccifer” has struck again, this time branching out from politics and targeting the business world by breaching the AOL account of venture capitalist John Doerr.

It’s unclear why “Guccifer” hacked Doerr’s account, but the hacker has gained access to powerful individuals before, including the sister of former President George W. Bush, former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell and ex-Clinton adviser Sidney Blumenthal. All of the breaches involved AOL email accounts.

Doerr, 61, has a net worth of $2.7 billion and is a general partner at the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers. He’s worked with Internet giants Google, Twitter, Amazon and Groupon, according to The Smoking Gun, which first reported about the hacking of Doerr’s email account.

“Guccifer” sent the website proof that he hacked Doerr’s email account by messaging The Smoking Gun from the account.

“Do you like my new face?” he wrote. “I wear glasses right now an [sic] I have2 zillion + in my bank accounts :))”

He also sent The Smoking Gun a screenshot of Doerr’s contacts list, which included email addresses of Kleiner Perkins employees, biographer Walter Isaacson and AOL co-founder Steve Case. The image showed that the venture capitalist had some 5,000 emails in his inbox, according to the website.

While Doerr is the first “Guccifer” victim from the business world, he’s not the only one with a connection to Kleiner Perkins. Powell is a strategic adviser to the firm – a post he has held since 2005, The Smoking Gun noted.

“Guccifer” previously hacked the AOL account of Dorothy Bush Koch, daughter of former President George H.W. Bush and sister of ex-President George W. Bush.

The hack revealed private information on the health of the elder Bush, including funeral plans, as well as photos of paintings made by the younger Bush. The photos gained notoriety, especially the self-portrait showing President Obama’s predecessor showering and staring at his naked toes in the water while sitting in a bathtub.

“Guccifer” also defaced Powell’s Facebook page, hacked Blumenthal’s AOL account and breached the email accounts of several prominent people, including former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Negroponte and ex-FBI agents.
