Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani took an important step in their relationship -- meeting each other’s parents, People magazine reported Friday. Shelton introduced girlfriend Stefani to his mother, while Stefani introduced Shelton to her father.

Stefani met Shelton’s mother Dorothy on a recent trip with the country singer to his home in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, sources told the magazine. The 39-year-old “Sangria” singer met Stefani’s father Dennis in Los Angeles.

"Blake helped Gwen's dad around the house," another source told People. "They seemed very friendly and like they were getting along great."

Meanwhile, Hollywood Life reported Friday that Shelton was planning to dress up like Santa Claus for Stefani’s three children but ditched the idea as he did not want to confuse the kids.

“Blake wanted to dress up like Santa and surprise her kids with gifts but he talked himself out of it because he is still getting to know them,” an insider told Hollywood Life. "He doesn’t want to confuse them acting like Santa one minute and then trying to hang out with Mommy the next minute. He thought it might be a little too much for them right now.”

Shelton and Stefani announced separation from their respective spouses this summer. Shelton divorced from Miranda Lambert in July, and Stefani announced her split from singer Gavin Rossdale in August.
