Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have been incredibly secretive about their relationship, providing fans only small glimpses into their whirlwind romance, but that’s all about to change.

The former No Doubt singer recently sat down with Cosmopolitan magazine for an interview about the demise of her marriage to Gavin Rossdale and how that affected her relationship with Shelton. The interview, which appears in the popular magazine’s September issue, hit newsstands Thursday — and you won’t believe what Stefani had to say.

The “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” singer told Cosmopolitan that toward the end of her marriage she felt like she was enduring “months and months of torture.” She chose not to delve into specifics, telling the publication that only her parents and those directly involved know the truth, but said that she’s been open about it in her music. Stefani, 46, echoed previous statements she’s made that finding Shelton after her split was a God send, though forming a relationship with him was not easy.

“We were both having trust issues, as you would if you were us,” she said. “It was like, ‘I have so many problems. How can I now be getting into another potentially huge problem? What am I doing?’”

Due to the private nature of their relationship, rumors are constantly surfacing about Shelton and Stefani. On Wednesday People magazine reported that the pair were considering tying the knot. A source said they “are not engaged yet,” but added that it may be happening soon. The source said that Stefani is “very happy” with Shelton, 39, and gets “giddy” when speaking about him. Scheduling conflicts related to Stefani’s current tour are said to be holding back their stroll down the aisle.

“It seems the timing [for an engagement] just hasn’t been right,” the source said. “But Gwen is very, very happen with Blake. She always acts giddy when she talks about Blake.”

Shelton is the first and only man Stefani has been linked to since going public about her plans to divorce Rossdale. The pair, who have three children together, were married for close to 13 years. It has been reported that he cheated on her and was caught after Stefani uncovered messages between he and his mistress on an iPad kept in their home. Those rumors have yet to be confirmed. Shelton divorced wife Miranda Lambert around the same time, making the official announcement on July 20, 2015. The cause of their split remains a mystery to many. They confirmed their relationship in November, though neither Shelton nor Stefani has said whether they intend to give marriage another shot.
